Breakfast Outside

For the last week or so, Agustín has been getting nauseous every morning, especially if he smells breakfast, like pancakes or eggs or even bacon! Daddy taught him a little trick, to try to avoid the inevitable vomiting we have not seen for a long time: Go outside and get some fresh air, walk around, breathe deeply. So far it has worked - there have been no accidents, and this is important not only because we don't want to clean it up or have to change uniforms at the last minute, but also because once he starts the whole vomiting routine, he takes it to the next level, and we see a lot of it for quite some time.

This week he has spent every morning outside, trying to control his nausea. He still gets hungry, though, so we bring him his breakfast. Now Nico has joined the action. It is cold mountain air out there at 6 a.m., believe me, but neither of them seems to mind.

Taking the bus

Agustín is going to take the school bus this year. At least, for the moment, in the mornings. His grandma is still going to pick him up in the afternoon so the day doesn't get too long and he can have lunch earlier (the bus arrives at 3 pm), but we decided to let him take the bus in the mornings to help out with the morning routine. He was very disturbed the first day of school when he didn't get a bus number, which was another reason why we decided to contract the service (it is $27 a month - not too bad I guess!). It makes him feel very big and old and responsible. I just pray the bus driver is careful - one of the reasons Agustín loves the bus (so far) is because he says the bus goes "really fast - like a car race." Hmmmmm.

The evening routine to make the morning routine a lot easier

This is what the front door looks like every night before bed. We have everything ready - the kids' backpacks, the bag for the after school change of clothes and shoes. And my stuff! Wowee - sometimes I have more than them - laptop, books, folders/pens and stuff for workshops. Putting it all at the door before bed makes it easier in the morning. What would really make it easier would be putting it in the car the night before, but for some reason that never seems to happen!
